Fred Macmillan

Psychotherapeutic Counsellor BA Hons, PGDip (Reg MBACP)

As a humanistic counsellor, I offer a safe, confidential space to listen to you without judgment. I will also help empower you to find your inner resources so you can grow into the person you want to become and to make choices that are right for you. I will prioritise understanding how you experience the world rather than interpreting your world for you and making assumptions. My focus to do this is by building a trusting, respectful and honest relationship with you in which you feel heard and valued, so that you can express how you’re actually feeling, rather than how you think you ought to feel. I will respect the pace you want to work at and what boundaries you want to set for our work together.

I have supported people with their mental health since 2017, first as a mental health support worker, and now as a therapist. Before joining the team at TRC in 2021, I have worked across a wide range of counselling settings, including private practice, the NHS and charity sector. I have also previously worked in family law.

I have a PGDip in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of BACP and am guided by their ethical framework. I also have a BA in Theology from Oxford University.
