Dr Samah Alkhawashki

I work with children, adolescents, and their families to help them overcome the difficulties they may face during various stages of their development. This includes anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, trauma, eating disorders, and developmental disorders such as autism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

My passion lies in helping adolescents gain skills and recognize their strengths and abilities to overcome the challenges that may present with adolescence.
I use a bio-psycho-socio-cultural approach in the management of any individual that presents to me, which deepens the understanding of each patient and their suffering. This means that I use medication treatment in cases that require it, and an integral part of my treatment plan is the psychosocial intervention, which we provide with high competence at TRC.

I graduated from the College of Medicine at King Saud University in Riyadh, and then obtained a master’s degree in public health from the University of Miami in the United States, focusing on developmental disorders and the needs of families of individuals with disabilities. I then completed my training at the University of Toronto in general psychiatry and subsequently completed a sub-specialized program in child and adolescent psychiatry. I obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.
