Nickey Begg

Integrative Psychotherapist pg Dip

I am a person centred therapist working with teenagers, adults and couples.

I believe that our early significant relationships and experiences can have a profound impact on who we become, and how we feel about ourselves, which in turn can make daily functioning difficult. By talking through our issues, we can become aware of unhelpful beliefs and behaviours which may hinder us from moving forward with our lives. Having the understanding of our behaviours can be very empowering and help us to make changes.

In my role as your therapist I aim to support you, respect your views and help you find your own insight and understanding of your problems.

Please find some areas below that I can help with:

Anxiety, bereavement, depression, low confidence, miscarriage, relationship problems, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse, attachment disorder, family issues, loneliness, low self-esteem, separation and divorce, stress, work-related stress, post-natal depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and bullying.

As well as my experience in general practice, I also specialise in the perinatal period, supporting women and their families before during and after the birth of their babies. I prior to this I worked in a Glasgow college with young adult ranging in age from 16 to 25 which I found enormously rewarding.

I live in Edinburgh and am a mother of three young adults and when I’m not working, I love spending time with them, walking, reading and travelling.
