Shaden AlKhalifa
Mental Health Counsellor, LMHC
Speaking to a stranger about personal and family experiences can feel awkward, exposing, and even frightening. Choosing to consider therapy is already a courageous step into the unknown. I hold this with deep respect. Because of this, I meet those who come into my therapy room with humility, care, and an understanding of what it takes to show up.
From our first sessions, I focus on creating a space that feels emotionally safe, respectful, and paced according to your needs. You do not need to have the “right words”; we move gently, with curiosity rather than pressure.
My clinical approach has been shaped by extensive training and work across diverse settings in both Saudi Arabia and the United States. I am a licensed mental health counselor who trained and practiced in New York, where I worked with adults navigating depression, anxiety, identity related distress, relational difficulties, trauma, and major life transitions. My clinical work included long-term individual therapy, crisis assessment, treatment planning, and group work across community clinics, private practice, and nonprofit settings.
My therapeutic approach is relational psychodynamic, parts-based (IFS), and trauma informed. This means we pay attention to how early and current relationships shape your inner world, how emotions are organized, and how different parts of you developed to help you cope. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand their meaning and function.
My work is grounded in respect for family systems, culture, faith, and lived experience. As a Saudi therapist, I understand how expectations, loyalty, responsibility, and individuality often exist in tension, and how this can quietly influence how we relate to ourselves and others.
I believe healing happens in relationship, through being seen without judgment and understood without being rushed. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels grounded and real. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside people as they work toward lives that feel more meaningful and fulfilling.
